"...I belong to an ancient Bourbon noble family and I am the last Baron D'Onufrio...

...I guess our family has much in common with The Leopard novel's subject matter: we all seem to change but deep inside we always stay the same... My family originated from Puglia, more precisely from the town of Mottola, and settled down in Sicily in the early 1800s... Palazzo Castrone di Santa Ninfa is our home... the keeper of our family history... Baron G. D'Onufrio.
About the property
The road running along Palermo Cathedral is one of the most historical and charming all over the city, with many noble Palazzi and monuments that nestle among picturesque narrow alleyways. Appartamento Santa Ninfa is beautifully located, right in front of the Duomo and set inside magnificent Palazzo Castrone di Santa Ninfa, a masterpiece of the Mannerist style.

The main entrance to the apartment is on a side of the Palazzo, through one of the picturesque alleyways opposite the Cathedral.

From the entrance hall on the ground floor a flight of stairs leads to the first floor and to the heart of the apartment: a newly-fitted, fully-equipped kitchen leads to a large dining room with a series of French windows that bring in a lot of light.
On this main floor, there is a double bedroom and a bathroom (with shower).
Back in the dining room, a flight of stairs leads to large comfortably furnished living area, complete with sofa-beds, a table with chairs and TV-set.
Off the living area is a single bedroom with French windows (leading out onto an outdoor private garden terrace) and another bathroom (with bath).
The living area has direct access to the garden terrace which provides an excellent spot to relax sitting out or enjoying a delicious barbecue.

Beautifully restored by the owners, Appartamento Santa Ninfa has retained its original charm and unconventional structure; this is easily seen through the impressive old walls in tufo stone decorating most indoor spaces.

The D'Onufrio Family offers very warm welcome and help, giving advice for visiting the city.
For those who may want, the family will be happy to have a talk about their family history over a glass of excellent Sicilian wine.

Description

Appartamento Santa Ninfa is located in Palermo, inside stunning Palazzo Castrone di Santa Ninfa, at walking distance of the Cathedral and Palermo's main sights and monuments.
Palazzo Castrone di Santa Ninfa, with its impressive courtyard, extensive loggia and the historic Fountain of Perseo, is your first stop when visiting the city.
After seeing Palermo Cathedral, you can walk to the Royal Palace and, on the opposite way, reach "Quattro Canti" and "Piazza Bellini".
Wandering round the web of back streets you'll discover hidden palaces and churches that you may otherwise miss. The old town centre of Palermo, where most sites of interest and street markets (Il Capo, La Vucciria e Ballarò) are situated, is extensive but easily walkable.
Mondello's white sandy beach and the rocky coast of Capo Gallo Nature Reserve (10 min. driving) are ideal for sea-and-sun-bathing lovers.
